Domestic violence is a public health crisis. More than a third of women (36%) and more than a quarter of men (29%) have experienced physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetimes. Domestic abusers even expose 1 in 15 children to abuse each year.
People living in poverty, seniors, nonbinary people, people of color, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations are disproportionately affected, facing abuse that is more frequent, more severe–or both.
